Obituary

Obituary for Timothy M. O'Rourke

Timothy Michael O'Rourke went home to The Lord on August 23,2019. He was a devoted husband to Peggy for 41 years. She predeceased him in 2010. He leaves behind his beloved family: daughters Stephanie and Kimberly and granddaughter Alexis, sister Eileen (George) and brother Thomas (Diane) brother-in-law George, nieces Vickie (Jimmy), Joanne (Kenny), Kris (Jim) and Kimberley and nephew Erik (Audra) and many cousins; Peggy's family; Patrick (Lyuba), James (Leslie), Walter (Marianne). He was predeceased by his loving parents Geraldine and Timothy, sisters, Margaret, Theresa and Sr. Mary.

He grew up in Riverdale, NY before moving to Mahopac, White Plains and then finally retiring to Lauderdale Lakes. His love for God brought him to St Josephs Seminary for college. Ultimately, he entered the workforce for Bankers Trust Co. He was drafted shortly after and served 2 years in the Army in Viet Nam as company clerk. This experience along with his talent for numbers and organization led to his career as a data processor. He would go on to build the data processing center for Bankers Trust Co. He enjoyed a 30 year career rising to vice president of data processing. He then consulted for Metlife retiring from there after 10 years.

He was a devout Catholic and rarely missed church on Sunday. He loved Mass and the fellowship of church. His last two parishes were Our Lady of Sorrows in White Plains and St Helen's in Lauderdale Lakes. Tim was a dedicated, hardworking, gregarious Irish New Yorker who loved a spirited conversation and of course a good drink. He had a booming voice and hearty laugh and was fiercely independent and stubborn. It's hard to believe he's gone, but we know he'll be waiting for us when our time comes.
